Traveling to Davenport

The trip from Colorado to Davenport, IA took us through Nebraska where we made several stops.  The first of which was in Gothenburg, NB where we saw a Pony Express Stations originally erected in 1854.

Our next stop in Nebraska was the Strategic Air & Space Museum in Ashland, NE.

Upon entering the museum, we were greeted by the SR-71 Blackbird

The Davenport meet of the AMCA was great fun and a wonderful time to catch up with friends we hadn't seen since the meet at Eustis, FL in February.  Barb spent time helping selling T-shirts and sharing Liquor 43 with friends.  Tim roamed the swap meet looking for parts to repair that '42, taking additional judging classes and hanging out with friends.

After the meet, we went on to Princeton, Illinois to visit with Pam & Steve Gross. While we were there, Steve, Dave Clemons & Kris Hilles took the '42 out of the van for us to survey the damages.

Tim then cleaned off most of the dirt and Steve attempted to start it .... and surprisingly it started.  Dirt coughed out of the air cleaner but the engine ran!  We were ecstatic to find that out...at least it doesn't appear there is major engine damage.  Dave informed us he would take it back to Florida because we didn't need to carry a broken motorcycle around the country.  So we loaded her up in Dave's van for the trek south.  Dave - we owe you big time!

We were sad to be leaving our friends in Princeton but we needed to get started back to Colorado to pick up the Sandstorm and again begin our trip west.
