Big Thompson Canyon and Trail Ridge Drive - Rocky Mountain National Forest - Colorado

The roads through Big Thompson Canyon (Colorado) were windy with steep walls and rugged terrain

Watch our for those drop offs!

View of the Rocky Mountains from Estes Park

From a popular overlook, you could see not only the mountains but the roads we had just taken.  We were also treated with the appearance of a small bird that didn't seem to be afraid of anyone.  He let everyone in for a close up photo.

This little fellow wasn't afraid of anyone!

Hope you enjoy this short video of Trail Ridge Drive & the scenery

The mountains on Trail Ridge Drive were awesome! It was hard to believe that there was still snow on them in August!

Wow- snow in August!

Gorgeous - what more can I say?

The turn around point for our ride was the Continental Divide at Milner Pass - getting there, however, was a challenge.

The unpaved road to get to the Continental Divide...challenging?
Nah, not many roads were paved in 1942!

The return trip provided even more breathtaking views
