Recuperation in Colorado

After our "Bump in the Road" we decided some extra R&R was needed so we extended our stay in Golden, Colorado.  We spent the days taking it slow and the evenings in the hot tub soaking aching bones and sore muscles.  We took a drive back to the scene of the accident just to get a close up view and it was even scarier to see it again and realize what could have happened - we were very lucky indeed!

I'm standing about where the bike left the road.  The rock at the bottom of the
picture is the one we hit - and split

Looking at the curve from a distance you can see the mountain

During the accident, I lost one of the bracelet charms I had been collecting during the trip.  We had chalked to up as being lost for good but our return visit to the scene brought us another surprise - I found the charm on a bush next to the rock we struck...

I couldn't believe the charm was still there and I actually found it!

During our recuperation we took time to visit Golden and see the sights it had to offer...mainly the Coors Brewery!

We also took a trip with Ed & Pat Glassmeyer to  Idaho Springs for great scenery and fantastic pizza at Beau Jo's.

Ed & Pat are truly wonderful friends who went above and beyond to help us after our accident.  Ed and his son picked up the bike from the accident scene and made sure it got safely back to our campsite.  Then they offered up space in the driveway at their home so we could park the camper there for a few additional days of recuperation.  They also let us leave the camper in their driveway as we headed on to Davenport.  Ed and Pat, saying thank you for all you did to help us out is will never be enough - we will be forever in your debt!
